22 Apr PWYP workshop for the local civil society
Albania EITI in collaboration with the Publish What You Pay (PWYP) organized in Tirana, in April 20-22, 2015, a capacity building training for the local civil society.
The role of Civil Society actors in the EITI and their participation in Multi – Stakeholder group is crucial and this was the purpose of this capacity building training, for a wider group of civil society actors, both on technical aspects of the new EITI Standard but also on coalition building, thereby strengthening the voice and the role of civil society in the EITI process.
In her speech Mrs. Dorina Çinari, Head of EITI Albania Secretariat presented the Extractive Industries Transparence Initiative, highlighting the role of civil society in EITI process. Civil society is essential to stimulate public debate that is based on EITI reporting regarding the management of natural resources.
This three days workshop was focused on: Building local CSOs capacities; Renew the CSO representatives on the MSG; Enlarge the pool of CSOs interested in the EITI.
A group of 20 civil society activists attended the workshop. Participants come both from the capital and from the regions and include MSG members and external actors.
