09 Mar Presentation of the 2015 EITI Report in Bulqizë
On March 8-9, 2017 the EITI Albania Secretariat staff held a series of meetings in Bulqizë city, to promote the EITI Initiative and presentation of the 2015 EITI report. The Municipality of Bulqizë was held a meeting with Vice Mayor Adhurim Lika where they talked about the financial benefits that the Municipality of Bulqiza had received from royalty. According to z.Lika, Municipality of Bulqiza for the first time until October 2016 had a significant worth of about 20 million ALL from royalty. It was discussed that funding received by royalty, must necessarily be used for public investment, which must be tangible for the community. Vice Mayer, called EITI Initiative, is a liaison body to strengthen the cooperation between local government, community and operating companies. A meeting with the same issue was held with staff of the Municipality of Bulqiza were took part specialist of the Tax Administration, Procurement Specialist Engineer and the Department of Human Resources. Meeting with the first-year students of professional mining high school made us realize that the miner is a difficult profession but proper training can be very beneficial and a long-term perspective for those who engage in this profession . Meeting with representatives of Albchrome company, as the biggest chrome company in Albania showed once again the importance of business transparency in the extractive industry, so that the income from this business contributes more to the development of the country.
