 
						06 Aug Roundtable on Transparency in the Extractive Sector – EITI Albania & AKBN
On 22 July 2025, the EITI Albania held a presentation roundtable at the premises of the National Agency of Natural Resources (AKBN) in Tirana, with the participation of the agency’s leadership and technical staff.
The roundtable followed a structured agenda and focused on the institutional role in implementing the 2023 EITI Standard, highlighting the importance of transparency, data quality, and stakeholder engagement in the extractive industry.
Key interventions included:
- Mr. Genci Terpo, Director General of the EITI Secretariat, emphasized the importance of technical institutional cooperation in ensuring accurate and verifiable reporting
- Mr. Perparim Alikaj, representative of Regional Innovation Center in Albania EIT Raw Materials, presented the objectives and guiding principles of the EITI, with a focus on European transparency practices and the energy transition
- Mr. Genci Terpo and Ms. Anila Hajnaj (MSG/EITI) delivered a joint discussion on the essential role of civil society in maintaining a balanced and multi-stakeholder governance approach
The meeting aimed to raise institutional awareness of the benefits of EITI reporting and to encourage ongoing technical engagement in support of sector transparency and accountability.
