{"id":2242,"date":"2016-01-22T11:20:26","date_gmt":"2016-01-22T11:20:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.albeiti.org\/?p=2242"},"modified":"2016-01-22T11:20:26","modified_gmt":"2016-01-22T11:20:26","slug":"mining-sector-eiti-report-2013-2014","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.albeiti.org\/site\/en\/mining-sector-eiti-report-2013-2014\/","title":{"rendered":"Mining sector &#8211; EITI Report 2013-2014"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">Mining sector<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><em>EITI Report 2013-2014<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As a traditional mining country, Albania contains an increasing number of medium, small-scale mining and quarry companies, and only a couple of large-scale industrial mining companies. <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">In<\/span> <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">November 2015<\/span><\/strong>, AKBN reported <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>600 mining licenses<\/strong><\/span>, whereas <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">112<\/span> <\/strong>licensees were <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>extracting chromium ore in Bulqiza mines<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Mining production <\/strong><\/span>was estimated at<strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"> USD 140.9 million<\/span> <\/strong>in<span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong> 2013<\/strong><\/span> and<span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong> USD 175.5 million 2014<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Chromium<\/strong><\/span> contributed at the largest share with about <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>72% of domestic mining output in 2013<\/strong>.<\/span> This share increased to <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>76% of domestic mining output in 2014<\/strong>. <\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">Limestone and<\/span> <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">other construction minerals<\/span><\/strong> represented the second largest group of minerals after chromium. Their share in the domestic mining output counted at <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">14% in 2013<\/span><\/strong> and <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>12% in 2014<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>Mining sector employed<\/strong> <\/span>about 3,800 staff in 2013 (<span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>0.3% <\/strong><\/span>of total registered workforce) and 4,300 staff in 2014 (<span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>0.4%<\/strong><\/span> of total registered workforce). Chromium sector employed about <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">59%<\/span> <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">of mining workforce in 2013<\/span><\/strong> and <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>69% in 2014<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The sector known contribution accounted at minimum for <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><strong>0.7% of total revenue in the national budget<\/strong><\/span> in both years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mining sector EITI Report 2013-2014 As a traditional mining country, Albania contains an increasing number of medium, small-scale mining and quarry companies, and only a couple of large-scale industrial mining companies.
