06 May Workshop on Ukrainian and Eurasian CSO in the EITI: Common challenges- joint approaches
Dixi Group , GIZ Ukraine and Publish What You Pay organized a workshop on Ukrainian and Eurasian CSO in the EITI: Common challenges – joint approaches that took place on 27-29 April in Kyiv, Ukraine. The workshop was attended by 8 country representatives from Albania, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, Germany and the host country Ukraine.
The workshop met their objectives in enhancing networking within Eurasia PWYP coalitions, finding solution to common challenges and to increase knowledge of EITI. The participant divided into three working groups following very active and lively debate on strengthening the EITI linkage to the local level; defining benchmarks to increase the level of CSO involvement of multi-stakeholder cooperation; how EITI can be use to work with companies and increase their accountability; development of concreate steps which should be taken to establish better networking among the EITI.
The participants from Albania were one representative from the Albanian EITI Secretariat and one representative from Albanian Civil Society Organization which shared a lesson of EITI implementation in Albania.
A lesson learned from this workshop is that the involvement of the civil society and the community in the EITI process should be strengthened and supported continuously.
