27 Jun Training on EITI initiative – KFOS and Euroasia Hub
Kosovo Foundation for Open Society (KFOS) together with Eurasia Hub held on Friday and Saturday, 24-25 June 2016, in Durres, a two days training for the Kosovo stakeholders, regarding the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative EITI.
Trainers from Eurasia Hub, Mr. Ingilab Ahmadov and Mr. Farid Guliyev presented for the participants issues such as the EITI Standard, essential changes in the EITI Standard 2016; Knowledge of the key pillars of EITI activities; Understanding the conditions that enable the establishment of multi stakeholders group MSG; Progress and gaps in implementation of EITI in the Eurasian countries that produce gas and minerals; EITI and opportunities for foreign direct investment; Why transparency is important in extractive countries; Special role of civil society in EITI implementation, etc.
EITI Albania took part in this training to present for the participants the progress of our country in EITI. Challenges from the first compilation of the reconciliation reports for the years 2009 and 2010; Albania’s membership in EITI; further compilation of the following 4 EITI reports 2011 EITI, 2012, 2013 and 2014 EITI in compliance with EITI Standard 2013, and expanding the EITI scope including for the first time in the EITI Report 2013 and 2014 the hydropower sector.
