Third day of presentations – EITI Albania and Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment

EITI Albania and Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment Columbia Law School – The Earth Institute, on December 04, held the third day of presentations for stakeholders on good governance of natural resources. Participants were members of Multi Stakeholders Group (MSG) of EITI Albania, government officials and representatives of civil societies. During the training the participants expressed the importance and how effectual it was. Also they gave some recommendations for EITI Albania.

Appreciating the fact that EITI Albania has managed to set transparency for many information data on extractive industry through EITI reports, the participants recommended that in continues it is necessary to set transparency towards the communities where the extractive industry operates; Addressing the needs of communities through training and information; The country benefits from natural resources and development projects for the benefit of the community; Enforcement of legislation in the framework of EITI reporting for full information data transparency from companies and respective structures; Strengthening the role of the EITI as a advocacy of the rights of the parties, between the government, companies and civil society.
