Multi-Stakeholder Group meeting – Introducing Mr. Genci Tërpo, the new Head of EITI National Secretariat and discussions on implementation priorities and EITI activities related issues

On December 2, 2019, at the premises of the EITI National Secretariat, the new Head of the EITI National Secretariat, Mr. Genci Terpo, is introduced to MSG members.

In his speech, Mr. Tërpo thanked him for the presence and expressed confidence that with the MSG members’ professional experience it will be able to achieve the objectives for the complex issues where the EITI National Secretariat is currently stands.

Mr. Tërpo emphasized the primary role that MSG and the EITI National Secretariat should have in completing the negotiation phase with the first listed company by the Bid Evaluation Commission for the selecting the Independent Administrator and launching disbursement procedures of the World Bank grant available fund.

Although we are currently on the limits of time, as the Head of this Institution, Mr. Tërpo expressed his readiness and invited all the members to deepen the bridges of Institutional cooperation that Albania to continue with the implementation of the EITI Standard.

Mrs. Anila Hajnaj also raised the concern of the Civil Society grouping and express that the coming Validation should find us with accomplished objectives to avoid any possible penalties.

During the meeting, Mrs. Deda, Coordinator at EITI National Secretariat underlined that there is hope that the central office in Oslo will extend the deadline and will consider the steps being taken to accelerate the implementation of the 2017-2018 EITI Report and the implementation of Beneficial Ownership.
