16 Dec EITI and Energy Transition
On December 14, 2021, the EITI International Secretariat organized a virtual Regional Conference and Seminar on Energy Transition. This activity intended to discuss the current status as well as new policies to enable a platform for the Energy Transition of the EITI implementing countries in Eurasia and Asia-Pacific.
Being one of the pioneer countries to include the renewable energy chapter in its Reporting, Albania was invited to share its experience in view of the given contribution in this regard.
While countries all over the world are becoming more involved in energy transition, the Head of the EITI National Secretariat, Mrs. Matilda Kërçaku, one of the participants in the discussion panel stated that as a large wave of investments is expected to flow towards new renewable sources, the upcoming EITI Reports must be consistent with this tendency in order to ensure transparency and accountability.
The Executive Director of the EITI International Secretariat, Mr. Mark Robinson in his welcoming speech stressed the importance of exchanging ideas and mutual experiences and that all countries in the region should focus on publishing a comprehensive work plan on energy sector objectives.
