Multi-Stakeholder Group Meeting (MSG)

 

On January 24, 2020 the Head of the EITI National Secretariat, Mr. Genci Tërpo held a meeting with the members of the Multi-Stakeholder Group (MSG), headed by its Chairman, Mr. Ilir Bejtja.

This meeting was held as part of the work on issues related to the discussion and approval of the Work Plan 2020, Corrective Actions derived from Validation II and the approval of the Companies List to report on the EITI Report 2017 -2018.

Mr. Genci Tërpo focused on the key developments since the first day he took over the direction of the EITI National Secretariat, and also mentioned some of the challenges Secretariat is facing.

The selection of the Independent Administrator and the commencement of work on the preparation of the 2017-2018 EITI Report constitute one of the essential steps that Mr. Tërpo undertook and to make the EITI process in Albania to go forward as fast as possible in line with the international standards.

Another important issue addressed during the meeting was the publication of Beneficial Ownership, where specifically the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy are working on finalizing the draft law on Beneficial Ownership Transparency.

At the end of the meeting, the MSG members expressed their commitment to take steps, during the first 6 months of the year, to carry out Corrective Actions regarding civil society engagement, license allocations, state participation, and comprehensiveness of disclosures, direct sub-national payments and data reliability.
